Every Friday, Rochelle provides a pic which the Friday Fictioneers use as a prompt for a 100-word flash fiction. Here is this week’s prompt:
I stare blankly, innocently forwards into the empty ferry. The vibration of the engine shudders the wooden bench seat as we leave the dock.
The rendezvous time was over an hour ago, and still I haven’t seen him. Maybe he saw me but the handover was not safe. I will have to disembark this time, I can’t risk a fifth crossing. The documents will have to be dropped overboard, sacrificed to the water along with the lives that will now be lost.
I hear the door behind me open. Heavy footsteps enter. My breath stops. I stare blankly, innocently forwards.
